Honoring the Lord with our body.

We know that scripture is sufficient for all things. We also know that the bible teaches us how to live and honor the Lord.

As I meditate about this topic, I automatically think about 1 Corinthians 6:19,

"Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own?"

We must humbly admit and submit to God’s word. The truth is that our body is not our own, but rather a temple of the Holy Spirit.

Therefore, we must be conscious of how we are honoring the Lord with our body. This can encompass a ray of sins such as gluttony, sexual immorality, and even sins of the tongue.

1 Corinthians 6:12-13 says

"All things are lawful for me, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be mastered by anything. Food is for the stomach and the stomach is for food, but God will do away with both of them. Yet the body is not for immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord is for the body."

The Word of God clearly reveals that Freedom in Christ is not a license for sin. Thus, we must ask the Lord to empower us through the Holy Spirit and the reading of His word to never be mastered by sin but rather overcome it with Truth.

Our material body will one day be made heavenly, but as we keep living on earth we must “run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus” as stated in Hebrews 12: 1-2.
